What Is A Necklift?
The neck is one of the first places where we show our age. The jaw line softens into loose hanging jowls, a double chin can appear, fine vertical lines transform into deep creases and folds, and fatty tissue deposits become prominent. A neck lift can restore a more youthful appearance to the neck area, by tightening the skin and underlying neck muscles and improving the contour of the jawline. This procedure is often performed in conjunction with a liposuction, a facelift, or a cheek lift but may also be done as a stand-alone procedure.

- A sleeker neck with a distinct jawline that separates your neck from your face
- Removal of excess skin and fat in your neck
- Removal of your neck’s folds and lines
- A more youthful appearance to the neck area and an improved contour of the jawline
FAQs
Under normal circumstances, the results of your neck lift surgery will be long-lasting (around 10 years).
Many patients decide to undergo this procedure as part of a multi-procedure process. Many patients decide to undergo a facelift at the same time as a necklift.
There are various incision approaches, depending on the extent of the surgery and the structures being altered. If a corset platysmaplasty is planned (in which the platysma muscles are tightly sewn together to create a smooth neck contour) a small incision is made under your chin (submental incision) along with a limited facelift-type incision behind each ear. For younger patients who request a neck lift with minimal change to the face, the neck correction can sometimes be accomplished with only the submental incision or with only the incision behind each ear.
It will take you approximately 10 to 15 days before you can return to your normal level of activity and work. After the surgery, you will receive detailed instructions about your post-surgical care, including information about normal symptoms you will experience and your recovery process.
The necklift surgery usually requires assisted local anesthesia (intravenous sedation).
